It has been Raining for a while

It has been Raining for a while

It has been raining for a while, both light and heavy rains. This has been happening in most parts of the country. Causing panic where the rains have been heavy. Promoting floods and landslides. Sadly, people have lost both lives and property. While some were left injured.

What does it mean to us?

More difficult times next year due to lack of sufficient food, low finances especially for those who depend on farms (where farms were affected before harvesting), expensive living conditions for city and town dwellers.

I am yet to confirm if the recently planted trees are a victim of these rains. But it will be heartbreaking if they too succumbed to the consequences of the heavy rain. Luckily, we are still planting more trees, hopefully, a good number of them will survive. And maybe save us from future predicaments as the current one.

We are a farming nation and most of our economy depends on agriculture. And this explains why we are among the most affected part of the planet by climate change. We are yet to develop to a point of providing our citizens, the accepted living standards. Hence fall prey to a wide range of misfortune, especially diseases, hunger, and poverty.

There’s Hope

Our ministry of environment and forestry have stood their ground lately, ensuring that our environment stands a chance. This is in the midst of poor to non-political will, where every environment issue has been politicized. But our minister has been firm and push forward to solutions without concentrating on the greed profits our politicians go after.

Hopefully, all the energy and efforts that have been channeled towards growing trees in the country will yield results. By achieving the required forest cover, we will be able to achieve one step towards successful climate action. And maybe, our agriculture can have another chance.

The public is better informed compared to the past years. People are now working towards climate adaptation. As we all join in to mitigate climate change.

Its Holiday season, what happens now?

This is normally the best time to enjoy activities such as camping and game drivers. But with these rains, its no longer that fun.

Without a good vehicle, get stuck in the wilderness is inescapable. And this can really ruin your moods or even subject you to danger. Although getting lost and stranded, is the best part of interacting with nature. Heavy rains can easily turn it into a dangerous affair.

The tents may end up being swept away if poorly pitched near waterways or inclined areas. Or getting wet, hence giving you cold and wet nights.

Cottages may be a good option for this scenario. As they are almost similar to camping and somehow offer that experience.

Hiking too is quick dangerous at the moment, especially for the extremely difficult mountains. So, don’t be a ninja and go extreme hiking. We need you next year for more secure fun.

Rains are good when it’s raining light

As much as the rains have caused damage and deaths, they have a bright side too.

The environment is green, temperatures are lower and where soils are firm, our seedlings have a higher chance of maturing.

Personally, I love this weather. I don’t like the sun, unless while enjoying the ocean.

A hot cup of chocolate, my lovely snow and series/ movie/ documentary/ book, make my day awesome.

Holiday spirit

We are already two days into December and am already in the holiday spirit.

That feeling of peace, happiness and knowing that you are finally conquering one more year. It’s a good feeling.

Above all, am happy for how things have been hopeful for our planet. And the public getting informed about our environment with its other living organisms.

May the rains continue raining, but at a gentle pace.

  1. I’ve been enjoying the rains, it’s got a healing effect on the land the rivers and environment. It also doesn’t allow for outdoor idling.
