Tree growing in Schools

This is Imani Primary School in Voi.

The pupils with help of their teachers and mentor Tiju Aziz have created their own mini forest.

You can tell the difference in climate while inside the school. The trees have promoted a cool micro-climate, making it lovely and accommodating.

Voi is among places that can have high temperatures, the shade, and breeze from the trees make it possible for the Imani primary school family to enjoy good weather.

This should be copied in all our schools, especially where we have witnessed massive cutting down of trees. By engaging kids in such activities, and allowing them to enjoy the outcome. They will be encouraged to transfer this knowledge to the homes and neighborhood. In turn, influences the whole village. Give it a few years, and we will have the forest cover we all desire.
